Building Queer Community – Pride to Power
The four most important words in the English language are: "How can I help?" ~Author unknown
As we slowly start to step from under the umbrella of COVID and reemerge back into some form of normalcy, we all want a healthy community and community members, a peaceful place where all our diverse community can live, work, and coexist in harmony. We all have an urge and desire to change the world and be impactful within our community.
The big question is, who will make that happen? Volunteers can!
Our Montrose Center Volunteers are necessary and extremely helpful in helping us work towards a healthy community and being able to offer a vast array of services and resources. It is the donation of our volunteer’s time, self, and effort to various causes.
Through our Montrose Center volunteer program, we aim to connect our volunteers to a community where they feel pride and a sense of commitment. Mobilizing community resources and expanding capacity through volunteers also furthers the Montrose Center’s impact throughout the community, which can reach more volunteers, clients & program participants, and donors.
Volunteers impact at the Montrose Center:
- An increased ability to serve clients and respond to the needs of the community (e.g., increased services, expanded hours of operation, shorter wait times)
- Greater staff diversity (e.g., age, race, social background, income, education)
- Increased skill set.
- Expanded community support.
Volunteer Projects
Many people think of volunteers as helpers stopping by in their spare time to answer phones, organizing files, or visit people who are sick or homebound. Volunteers fill a key role within the Center, handling day-to-day tasks, and raising funds. Without them, the Center would not be able to do the work we have done for over 40 years.
Even as our programs continue to grow, the Center continues to rely on volunteers to perform important, necessary work. Our volunteers are critical to the survival of organization.
